Empowering People's Independence (EPI), provides support for people with developmental disabilities, epilepsy, and brain injury through progressive, tailored care to improve their health, wellbeing, independence, and social inclusion.
Job Purpose:
The primary function of this role is to coordinate the medical services for persons supported in our Residential and/or Day Hab programs, in addition to training employees on various medical related topics to ensure the health and safety of persons supported.
Hiring Rate : $68,000/yr-$70,000/yr commensurate with experience

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain the health and well-being of the persons supported at EPI.
  • Maintain all medical records for all assigned locations.
  • Act as a liaison to pharmacy, physician, and provider offices.
  • Complete semiannual and annual nursing assessments and annual plans of nursing service.
  • Provide medical oversight by visiting persons supported/sites assigned.
  • Assist with training of Medical Liaisons.
  • Train and complete medication observations for (re)certification of unlicensed personnel.
  • Promote workplace safety at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical & Medical Director and/or designee within scope of practice.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Participate on various EPI committees as able.
Compliance:
  • Must maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion concerning all business-related matters, including but not limited to board/vendors/donors' names, investigations, finance, operations, and employee relations matters.
  • Must be willing to complete specific company-required trainings (e.g., Vehicle Safety, CPR-First Aide) as mandated by our governing agency, OPWDD and Department of Health (DOH) at time of hire and annually thereafter.
    • Must adhere to all departmental /company policies & procedures at all times.
    • Maintain nursing license.
    • Ensure all Direct Support Professionals (DSP) receive AMAP (Approved Medication Assistive Personnel) training and monitor to ensure compliance.
    • Decertify DSP's who no longer meet AMAP standards needed.
    • Actively participate in Internal Review Committee (IRC) and HRC (Human Rights Committee)

Education and Experience:
  • NYS RN License with minimum associate's degree; Bachelor's degree preferred with minimum of two (2) years' experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities to include, but not limited to, Traumatic Brain Injury, Autism, and/or similar chronic disabilities.
  • Must have and maintain NYS RN licensure.
Computer Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs to include Email and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to navigate electronic documentation program (i.e. Medisked, Evero).
  • Ability to use online systems to input work hours using electronic timekeeping system and complete online training.
Qualifications:
  • Valid NYS Driver's License. A vehicle is required for this job, as travel is required. Company vehicles are available occasionally to transport individuals and/or conduct onsite assessments at various program locations.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all persons supported and a diverse employee population of various levels within the organization.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to collaborate with co-workers and clinical team.
  • Demonstrated ability to use poise, tact, maturity, and diplomacy during difficult and/or stressful situations to effectively collaborate and resolve issues.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, and customer requests, while meeting deadlines.

  • Must be able to talk, hear, stand, crawl, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time; may have to twist, bend, use hand to finger, stretch with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be exposed to strong odors from time to time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

While performing the duties of this position, exposure to changing weather conditions will occur.
