Job description

Description This is where game night comes to life. The Madison Capitols are looking for a group of high energy, outgoing, and reliable interns to help create an unforgettable experience for our fans all season long. As a Fan Experience Intern, you are not just working the game. You are part of the show. Our interns help bring promotions to life, interact with fans, and create the moments people remember long after the final horn. You will have the chance to work across multiple areas of the organization, learn what goes into running a live sporting event, and be part of a team that takes pride in creating something special every single night. If you love sports, enjoy working with people, and want to be in the middle of the action, this is your opportunity. What You'll Do No two nights look the same, but you can expect to:
  • Help bring game night to life through promotions, contests, and fan interactions
  • Serve as a front facing representative of the Capitols and create a welcoming, high energy environment
  • Assist with in game entertainment, theme nights, and special events
  • Support different departments with game night needs and behind the scenes operations
  • Contribute ideas for new promotions, fan experiences, and creative activations
  • Assist with community events and appearances throughout the season
What This Role Looks Like
  • Availability for the vast majority of home games throughout the season
  • Nights, weekends, and some holidays are part of the experience
  • Opportunities for additional office hours and involvement beyond game nights
  • A fast paced, team first environment where energy matters
What We're Looking For Do not worry about having everything figured out. If this sounds like you, we would love to meet you:
  • You are outgoing, positive, and comfortable interacting with fans
  • You bring energy and are not afraid to be part of the moment
  • You are dependable and show up ready to contribute
  • You take initiative and look for ways to help without being asked
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and supporting those around you
  • You are willing to learn and grow in a fast moving environment
Where You'll Be on Game Night Every game is a live event, and our interns help make it run smoothly from start to finish. That might look like:
  • Welcoming fans as they arrive and helping scan tickets
  • Running interactive promotions like chuck a puck and in game contests
  • Assisting with wristbands, fan experiences, and theme night activations
  • Supporting different areas of the arena to keep the night moving
These roles are the front line of the fan experience. The energy you bring directly impacts how fans remember their night. A Quick Reality Check Working in sports is different than being a fan. Some of the most important roles happen behind the scenes, which means you may not always be watching the game. You will be helping create the experience around it. If you are excited about being part of what makes game night special, you are in the right place. Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to attend most home games during the 2026 to 2027 season
  • Must live in the Madison area during the 2026-27 season
  • Willingness to assist with special events and community appearances with advance notice
  • Ability to handle the physical aspects of the role including standing for long periods and light to medium lifting
This is an unpaid internship designed for students seeking school credit or hands on experience to build their resume. The Team The Madison Capitols are proud members of the USHL and are moving into a brand new facility in DeForest, Wisconsin, for the 2026-27 season. With growing attendance, a passionate fan base, and a team that is building momentum, there has never been a better time to jump in and be part of the story. The Capitols are an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members. Job Questions:
  • Will you be able to attend 20 of the 30 Capitols home games and events including working evenings and weekends?
  • What interests you the most about working in sports?
  • Do you understand that this is an unpaid internship?
