Live Oak Veterinary Specialists is seeking compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants to join our growing specialty team. Requirements:

Applicant Information

Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs): Candidates holding an active RVT credential will be considered for Veterinary Technician positions and will utilize advanced technical skills including anesthesia, surgery, diagnostics, and patient nursing care.

Veterinary Assistants: Candidates without an RVT credential will be considered for Veterinary Assistant positions and will provide direct support to veterinarians and technicians while developing their skills in specialty veterinary medicine.


This is an evergreen position. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and reviewed regularly. Qualified candidates may be contacted for current openings or future opportunities that match their experience and career goals.

Compensation

Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs):

$21.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience, credentials, and specialty skills.

Veterinary Assistants:

$18.00 – $21.00 per hour, based on experience, training, certifications, and relevant veterinary or animal care background.


Compensation is determined by qualifications, experience, and demonstrated competencies. Opportunities for advancement and increased compensation are available as team members develop their skills and contribute to the growth of the practice.


What You'll Do

Assist with patient care, treatments, diagnostics, and medical procedures

Safely handle and restrain patients for examinations and treatments

Obtain patient histories and monitor hospitalized patients

Prepare patients for surgery, imaging, and specialty procedures

Support laboratory, radiology, anesthesia, and surgical procedures

Administer treatments and medications as permitted by training and applicable regulations

Maintain accurate medical records and assist with patient admissions and discharges

Clean, disinfect, and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies

Provide compassionate support to clients, patients, and team members


What We're Looking For:

Veterinary Technician Candidates

Active Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential required

Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technology program (AVMA)

Strong technical, communication, and teamwork skills


Veterinary Assistant Candidates

High school diploma or GED required

Previous veterinary, animal care, kennel, or medical experience preferred

Veterinary Assistant Certification, Fear Free Certification, or specialty/emergency experience is a plus


All Candidates

Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment

Strong communication and organizational skills

Commitment to exceptional patient care and teamwork


Physical Requirements

This position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient restraint throughout the workday. Team members must be able to safely work around animals, medical equipment, anesthesia, radiology, cleaning agents, and potential biological hazards while maintaining professionalism and composure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
