Job description

Applicants must be third- or fourth-year students of accredited domestic or international veterinary schools, pursuing a DVM, VMD, or foreign equivalent.

Animal Specialty & Emergency Center of Brevard welcomes Externs who are successful 3rd and 4th year clinical veterinary students of AVMA Accredited schools to further their training. Participating students observe cases from diagnosis through treatment, ask questions, participate in rounds and department rounds, Eligible students may apply for an externship from one to two weeks, with no more than two weeks spent on a single service. 

 

Our innovative veterinary hospital offers specialty referral and 24-hour emergency care. Our team includes Emergency clinicians, a boarded Veterinary Dentist, a certified canine rehabilitation therapist, referral for Surgery, and a well-established group of support staff.

 

The facility includes CT, fluoroscopy, computed radiography, digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, laparoscopy/thoracoscopy, electrodiagnostics, ventilatory support, physical therapy (underwater treadmill/acupuncture), 3 surgical suites, and a full in-house laboratory. Our goal is to provide premiere diagnostics and therapeutics in a comfortable, compassionate environment. A virtual tour is available on our careers page .

 

Our hospital is centrally located on Florida's east coast, 5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. As a beach/waterfront community, we enjoy a sub-tropical climate offering unlimited outdoor activities year-round. We have two major rivers, 72 miles of Atlantic beaches, 30+ golf courses, A-rated schools, a low cost of living and much more. Conveniently, we have an international airport, and are located just 45 minutes from Orlando, two hours from Tampa, three hours from Miami and four hours from the Florida Keys. Known as the Space Coast, we are home to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center where we witness regular launches to the Space Station and beyond.
