SUMMARYJOB DESCRIPTIONThe student tutor is responsible for supporting the Athletics Department by providing individual and small group tutorial services to student-athletes.
QUALIFICATIONSThe minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
Must have successfully completed the course for which tutoring services are being provided or a higher-level course in that subject area with a grade of A or B.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Provides tutoring to student-athletes.
- Offers assistance with developing study strategies.
- Works with the student-athlete to develop a tutoring plan that fits the student-athlete's individual needs.
- Prepares and organizes tutoring sessions to ensure the student-athlete's academic development.
- Assesses the student-athlete's progress throughout tutoring sessions.
- Participates in tutor training and developmental education.
- Understands rules compliance is a critical element of this position and adheres to NCAA, conference, and university rules, regulations, and policies.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Performs other related duties as assigned.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTA student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
