Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care, Level 3 high-risk facility in Nevada, requiring active NV licensure and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.

Details
  • Acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 17 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 4 triage beds, and 16 postpartum beds
  • High-volume unit averaging approximately 250 births per month
  • Level 3 high-risk facility serving complex antepartum, laboring, and delivery patients
  • Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 2:1 for normal laboring patients, 1:1 for high-risk labors, 4:1 for couplet care, and 2:1–4:1 for antepartum depending on acuity
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Insulin, and Heparin
  • Cerner used as the EMR and EFM system
  • OB, neonatologist, and anesthesia are in-house 24/7
  • Certified Surgical Techs and unit secretaries provide ancillary support
  • No on-call or standby requirement
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
  • Floating required to postpartum (Mother-Baby) and other units as needed; travelers are first to float
  • Holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active NV RN license (Standard or Compact/NLC) required; pending licenses will not be accepted
  • Current certifications required (no pending certifications accepted): BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), and NRP
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
  • Proficiency with vaginal exams, internal monitor placement, and fetal monitor strip interpretation required
  • Experience with high-risk laboring/delivery and antepartum patients required
  • Ability to circulate and recover C-section patients independently
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate, as determined by driver's license address
Additional Information
  • RNs manage the full scope of L&D care including laboring, delivery, antepartum, couplet care, and C-section circulation and recovery
  • RNs are responsible for reading their own fetal monitor strips; no telemetry techs on unit — remote ICU monitoring is used when tele monitoring is needed
  • Patients requiring mechanical ventilation are transferred to the ICU
  • Scheduling is self-directed through the TEAM scheduling system, with the final schedule balanced by a nurse scheduling committee
  • Orientation for travelers is 3 days
  • Navy blue scrubs required; light blue OR scrubs are available for use in the OR
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
