About Indiana Sign & Barricade (ISB)

Established in 2007, ISB is a laborers union signatory company that sells, rents, and installs road-safety related products and services, primarily within the central and southern Indiana Highway Construction Industry. ISB provides 24-hour traffic control systems, road-sign installation, pavement markings, and grooving and grinding for striping. We offer a variety of purchase and rental options such as arrow boards, rigid and roll-up signs, barricades, cones, drums, jersey barrier wall, message boards and portable traffic signals.


Job Summary

Complete operations of assigned traffic control & striping projects setting up and taking down lane closures. Redirect traffic for workers or survey crews. Lift, carry, load and unload construction items including pavement marking supplies and place paint and thermoplastic on pavement. Works independently or part of a crew. Assemble, deliver, and pick up safety products from job sites.


Pay & Benefits

$27.65/hr. (on-the-job working hours), other pay rates vary by task (starting at $16/hr.). Weekly overtime pay is also available.

Union Members receive mandated benefits as defined in the collective bargaining agreement. Those benefits include Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Participation in the Union Pension Fund

Union Members are also eligible for Company sponsored Benefits. Those benefits include Indiana Sign & Barricades Retirement Plan, both 401(k) with company match and Roth, vacation, and holiday pay.

Additionally, ISB provides required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), uniforms, tools and materials required to successfully complete daily tasks.


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Install, maintain and remove temporary traffic control devices from job sites as directed.

  • Install, maintain and remove temporary and permanent striping from job sites as directed.

  • Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to the job site and on the work site.

  • Shop work which may include loading and repair of equipment.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities


  • Ability to lift and move a minimum of 51 pounds.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

  • Mechanical background/experience preferred (not required).

Job Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • A valid Driver's License is required, and must be maintained, to operate company trucks.

  • Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred and compensated. ISB assists with obtaining a Class A, CDL.

  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass background check including driving.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.

  • Must be willing to travel throughout the state as projects require with occasional overnight stay.

  • Must be able to work nights/weekends as the project schedule demands.

  • Must be able to be on a rotating on call schedule.

Education & Experience


  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Basic reading/writing ability to comply with road signs, complete paperwork and communicate with customers owners and the traveling public is required.

  • Previous experience in flagging and traffic control set up is a plus. Certification (from ATSSA) as Flagger, Traffic Control Technician, or Supervisor is preferred. ISB provides ATSSA certifications for qualified individuals.
