Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Rhinology, Anterior Skull Base Physician at Creighton University School of Medicine you will join our growing Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery in Omaha, NE. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a new and expanding academic department and help shape the future of otolaryngology in the region.

Every day you will work with growing group of academic surgeons encompassing a wide breadth of otolaryngology cases in the setting of a large established referral base within a wide reaching integrated health care system. In collaboration with Creighton University School of Medicine, the Department of Otolaryngology will establish a residency program, led by our founding Department Chair.

To be successful in this role, you will be board certified or eligible in Otolaryngology with clinical experience in the management of anterior skull based and rhinology surgery. In addition, the candidate should have a strong academic interest with a desire to educate and participate in research.

This remarkable leadership opportunity builds on existing strengths including a cohesive Omaha metro-wide health care system with a large referral base of primary care providers, skull base program, expertise in vestibular disorders, collaborative opportunities with NIH-funded investigators in hearing and vestibular research. Additionally, it encompasses collaboration with sister programs in adult and pediatric head and neck programs including Nebraska Methodist Health System & Children's Nebraska.

Job Details

  • Academic Appointment: Open rank (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) commensurate with experience and career stage

  • Clinical Focus: Comprehensive rhinology with diverse practice including endoscopic sinus surgery, revision procedures, allergy/rhinology, and multidisciplinary endoscopic skull base surgery. Current practice is 80% inflammatory disease and 20% skull base

  • Close partnership with highly collaborative neurosurgical team for skull base cases

  • Practice Setting: Academic tertiary care setting

  • 1:6 call responsibilities with weekday APP support

  • Opportunity for 1:1 APP practice support

  • Leadership opportunities within expanding department and development of residency program

  • Growing department with current 5 faculty members including general otolaryngology, head and neck surgery with microvascular reconstruction, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and laryngology

  • Robust department infrastructure with five APPs, five Audiologists, dedicated nursing and administrative staff

  • Research: institutional support for clinical, translational, and outcomes-based research with access to biostatistics, clinical trial infrastructure, and potential for protected academic time

  • Mentorship: Faculty development resources and mentorship programs within Creighton University

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution

  • Board certification or eligibility in Otolaryngology

  • Active or eligible license in the state of Nebraska

  • Strong clinical skills with experience in programmatic development

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
