Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as a Family Support Worker?

  • As a Family Support Worker in the Florida Case Management Organization (CMO) department, you will provide transportation of youth to/from out-of-home care placements, to/from school, and to/from visits. Family Support Workers also supervise parent visits.
  • A typical day as a Family Support Worker will include managing crises, de-escalating youth and adults, and driving. As a Family Support Worker, a large amount of time is spent face-to-face with high-needs teenagers, transporting them.
  • This is a full-time hourly job. There is no on-call duty. Hours and days can vary week to week based on need. This includes daytime, nights, and weekends. No second job is permitted.
  • Our office is located in Maitland. This role will have a hybrid schedule, sometimes working in the office, from home, or on the road transporting clients. Transporting may require traveling long distances in Florida, depending on the needs of the clients.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED required; A.A. preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software. Must have a reliable vehicle/transportation
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Must meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as they pertain to the department
  • All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
