Snowbird is situated in the middle of the Wasatch Mountain Range and is not only home to awe-inspiring views and mighty terrain, it is also home to employees equally as remarkable. Snowbird is a unique resort with distinct summer and winter seasons and offers full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.

TITLE: Oktoberfest Cook

LOCATION: Snowbird Center

STATUS:Part-time,Seasonal

SCHEDULE: Saturdays and Sundays (as well as Labor Day 9/7) | Approx. 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM

PAY: $19.50 an hour, plus tips

Running from mid-August through mid-October, this vibrant event brings together live entertainment, authentic cuisine, family-friendly activities, and, of course, world-class brews.

We areseekingenthusiastic, service-driven individuals to join our Oktoberfest team and help deliver exceptional guest experiences in a dynamic, high-energy environment.

SUMMARY

As an OktoberfestCook, under the direction ofOktoberfest Management Team,you will provide a positive experience to Snowbird guests and co-workers during Oktoberfest. You willprep andserve all food & beveragetoguests, exceeding their expectations followed by food & beverage and sanitation standards, cashiering, serving food, stock glasses, bussing tables,takeout trash,washdishesand other duties as needed. In addition, you willsetupand tear down the event as directed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Ensuresstandards of appearance and sanitation aremaintainedon a daily basis.

  • Maintains good safety practicesofemployees throughout the kitchen.

  • Participates inon-goingemployee training.

  • Obtains assigned station from Chef at the beginning of the shift.

  • Prepares misenplace for his/her station and is ready toassistothers if needed.

  • Completes daily duties before and after the shift.

  • Takesfast andappropriate actionto solve problems.

  • Wash dishes as needed.

  • Handlesguestconcerns in a professional manner.

  • Maintainslineof communication between Chef, SousChefand other kitchen staff.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • 4-6monthsjob related experience preferred withdemonstratedcompetence.

  • Must be at least18years of age.

  • Food handlers Permit- Required by training date.(August1st or 2nd)

  • Ability to follow directions, must be able to comfortably communicate in English, ability to work in either a team or individually without constant supervision.

  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner andmaintaingood working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

  • Mustdemonstrate competency inreadingwriting and arithmetic and have the basic knowledge of culinary terms and knife skills. In addition,mustdemonstratethe ability to learn recipes, handle all kitchen equipment, andleanbasic kitchen techniques. Candidate must have the ability to multi-taski.e., prep several items at once while acceptingdirectionfrom the Chef or Sous Chef.

  • Position requires exercise of judgment within policy guidelines, problem solving and initiation of activities written job description and responsibility limitations. Also requires understanding of other Snowbird operations.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Must be available to work every weekend from mid-August through mid-October, including Labor Day weekend

  • Required attendance at training/orientation (8/1 or 8/2)

  • Events are held rain or shine; shifts may vary slightly within scheduled hours

UNIFORM REQUIRMENTS

  • Solid black pants (must fit waist, nojeansor baggy pants), comfortable shoes, closedtoeand no bright colors, black socks.

  • We will provide one uniform shirt, apron,hatand name tag that must be worneverydayonce you are clocked in.

  • Weathervariesgreatly fromday to day so always be prepared withjacket,hatand gloves.

  • Events will never be canceled forbad weather, but we may send people home.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Stress associated with high volume sales, heavy crowds, and high noise levels due to live entertainment.

  • Mustbe able to lift 30 lbs.

  • Must be able to carry trays and other items needed for service.

  • Must be able to stand forlong periodsof time.

  • Mustdemonstrateabilityto bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.

  • Outside environment in a mountain setting: weather will range from hot and sunny to cold and wet,possibly changingconditions drastically throughout the day. Walking through heavy crowds, up and down stairs, up and down hills.
