Job description

Do you have irrigation systems experience in the summer and want to try snowmaking in the winter? We are looking to hire both Level 1 and Level 2 Snowmakers for our Slopes department for the upcoming winter season. We have a state-of-the-art fleet consisting of 40 machines with the addition of Snow Secure and automation to help track usage this season. Can you work alone or in a team? Are you comfortable with machinery and high-pressure supply systems? There is also an opportunity to move to the grooming department once snowmaking is finished for the season. Compensation Information: $21.45 to $22.45 per hour (dependent on skills/experience)

Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35 kg; predominantly in an outdoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

This role is eligible for an incentive for successful applicants to receive $1 per hour worked based on completion of a full winter season contract. Conditions apply to this incentive and will be shared during the interview and onboarding.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Experience with irrigation systems OR a minimum of 1 year snowmaking experience considered an asset (at Sun Peaks or other resorts).
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and open-minded.
  • Able to work both alone and as part of a team.
  • Some snowmobile experience preferred.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work shift work and odd hours with some overtime when required.
  • Be dependable, timely, and cooperative.
  • Valid drivers license.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand and work towards departments and company’s goals and objectives.
  • Observe carefully and adhere to all company safety, operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Follow instruction, paying close attention to detail.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship in communication, respect for equipment, co-workers and quality of product.
  • Perform pre-start up inspections, walk-around checks and maintain all machinery and equipment.
  • Adhere to mountain operating guidelines.
