Lift Operator - Summer 2026

Job description

Are you a people person who loves being outside? Our Lift Operators are key guest-facing members of our summer operations team at Sun Peaks Resort. Do the thoughts of great views and a welcoming team sound great? Lift Operators ensure guests' safe loading and unloading practices and monitor the RFID ticket system. Further financial bonuses are available for staff performing well. Full training is provided, and you will work alongside skilled and knowledgeable individuals. You will be stationed at one of our two lift-accessed mountains providing guests access to hiking, biking, and sightseeing adventures! Compensation Information: $19.35 per hour (the updated wage effective May 01, 2026)

Physical Requirement: Constant Medium (M); outdoors with possibility of extreme heat, Occasionally Heavy (H); outdoors with possibility of extreme heat; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; predominantly in an outdoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Must be outgoing, have a positive attitude, and enjoy working with people.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions for the course of each shift.
  • Highly motivated, honest, responsible, and have an excellent work ethic.
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks in a safe, timely manner.
  • Must be able to maintain a calm, professional, friendly manner under periods of stress.
  • High level of physical fitness free from injuries. Able to complete other physically demanding duties, including lifting 40lbs (18kg) comfortably.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the mountain access lifts, RFID ticket validation as assigned by the Lift Operations Manager/Assistant Manager/Supervisor.
  • Loading and unloading of foot passengers and mountain bikers, as well as mountain bikes on and off of the lift’s bike racks.
  • Provide physical assistance to guests as required and adjust the speed of the lifts for the guests to load and unload in a safe manner.
  • Communicate safety procedures and guidelines for riding the lifts to the guests as necessary; Safety awareness at all times is a must.
  • Maintain the appearance of the stations and surroundings throughout the day, ensuring load and unload areas up to operational standards as per the Z-98 code.
  • Communicate hazards/problems to Supervisors while demonstrating initiative in safely anticipating and handling routine and emergency procedures.
