Industrial Pipe Yard Forklift Operator

Location: Amelia, Louisiana
Schedule: Monday–Friday; overtime and weekends as needed

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to work in an industrial pipe yard in Amelia, LA. The ideal candidate will have previous experience operating heavy-duty forklifts in an industrial, pipe yard, oilfield, or similar environment.

The Forklift Operator will be responsible for safely moving, loading, unloading, staging, and organizing pipe, tubular products, and other heavy materials throughout the yard and onto trucks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy-duty forklifts to move pipe, tubular products, pallets, and other industrial materials.
• Load and unload flatbed trailers, trucks, and other transportation equipment.
• Move and stage pipe and materials throughout the yard according to work orders and supervisor instructions.
• Safely handle long, heavy, and oversized pipe and tubular products.
• Ensure materials are properly positioned and secured during loading and unloading.
• Inspect forklift equipment before each shift and report any mechanical or safety issues.
• Operate the forklift in accordance with company safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians, trucks, cranes, and other heavy equipment operating in the yard.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining pipe and material storage areas.
• Verify material quantities and identify products as required.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, yard personnel, supervisors, and other employees.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Wear all required PPE while working in the yard.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous forklift operating experience in an industrial environment required.
• Experience operating forklifts in a pipe yard, steel yard, oilfield, manufacturing, or similar heavy-industrial environment strongly preferred.
• Experience handling pipe, tubular products, steel, or other long/heavy materials preferred.
• Ability to safely operate heavy-duty forklifts.
• Ability to load and unload flatbed trailers.
• Ability to work safely around cranes, trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Experience

• Previous oil & gas or industrial pipe yard experience.
• Experience handling OCTG, casing, tubing, drill pipe, or other tubular products.
• Experience loading pipe onto 18-wheeler flatbed trailers.
• Experience operating high-capacity or extended-reach forklifts.
• Familiarity with industrial yard safety practices and PPE requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and operate a forklift for extended periods.
• Ability to climb on and off equipment safely.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and walk throughout the yard.
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required.

Work Environment

This position is performed in an active industrial pipe-yard environment with exposure to heavy equipment, forklifts, cranes, trucks, trailers, pipe, and other industrial materials. The employee must remain alert and follow all safety procedures at all times.
