Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking vigilant and dependable Security Guards to help ensure the safety and smooth operation of live racing events and other venue activities. Security Guards are responsible for monitoring crowds, securing access points, patrolling the facility, enforcing venue policies, and responding to incidents in a timely and professional manner. Successful candidates must possess excellent observation skills, strong communication abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while providing exceptional customer service to guests, staff, and event participants.
AUTHORITY AND EXPECTATIONS:
Security Guards are expected to observe, report, and deter unlawful or unsafe activity. Security personnel do not possess law enforcement authority and are expected to contact local law enforcement when situations require police intervention.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor entrance and exit points, verifying credentials, tickets, and authorized access.
• Conduct bag checks and security screenings when required.
• Perform regular foot patrols throughout the racing complex to deter and detect suspicious activity.
• Monitor crowd behavior and maintain crowd control during events.
• Direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic as needed.
• Observe and report safety hazards, policy violations, or suspicious activities.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, disturbances, accidents, medical incidents, and emergencies.
• Enforce venue policies, event rules, and safety procedures consistently and professionally.
• Assist guests, vendors, staff, and event participants with information and directions.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire personnel, EMS, and emergency responders when necessary.
• Assist with lost children, lost property, and guest service-related situations.
• Monitor surveillance systems and maintain radio communication with other security personnel.
• Complete accurate incident reports, shift logs, and other required documentation.
• Assist with emergency evacuations and emergency response procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Director.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in event security, crowd control, law enforcement, military services, or a related field preferred.
• Valid security guard license or certification.
• Valid driver license and reliable transportation.
• Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to remain calm, alert, and professional in stressful or high-pressure situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be available to work flexible schedules, including daytime, mid shifts and/or overnights, weekends, holidays and special events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Outdoor racing complex with varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work shifts lasting up to 8-12 hours.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
• Ability to climb stairs and navigate uneven terrain.
• Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Outdoor racing complex and event venue.
• Exposure to large crowds, loud noise levels, livestock, dust, and changing weather conditions.
• Fast paced environment requiring constant awareness and attention to safety.
• Frequent interaction with guests, vendors, staff, and emergency personnel.
