Live In Rotational Nanny information

What is a live in rotational nanny?

A Live In Rotational Nanny is a childcare professional who lives in the employer’s home for scheduled periods—often one or two weeks at a time—then rotates out with another nanny. This arrangement provides continuous care for children without requiring one nanny to be on duty all the time. Rotational nannies typically work long shifts during their rotation and then have extended time off. This setup is common for families who travel frequently or need 24/7 coverage. It ensures that children have consistent care while allowing nannies time to rest and recharge.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a live in rotational nanny?

To thrive as a Live In Rotational Nanny, you need experience in childcare, knowledge of child development, and relevant certifications such as CPR and First Aid. Familiarity with household management tools, family scheduling apps, and communication platforms is often required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, patience, flexibility, and discretion are essential soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure the safety, wellbeing, and harmonious development of children while supporting the needs and routines of busy households.

How do live in rotational nannies typically coordinate schedules and handovers with other nannies or family members?

Live-in rotational nannies usually work in shifts, such as one or two weeks on followed by a week off, to provide continuous care for children. Coordination with other nannies or family members is essential, and detailed handover notes, daily logs, and regular meetings are common industry practices to ensure consistency in routines and expectations. Open communication helps maintain smooth transitions, minimize disruptions for the children, and foster a collaborative environment. Working closely with parents and other caregivers also allows nannies to address any concerns and adapt to evolving family needs.

Job description

A warm, dynamic family in Miami is seeking an experienced, engaging, and adaptable full-time live-out nanny to join their growing household. The family currently has three children, with another child expected at the end of September. This is a long-term position where the candidate can grow alongside the family and become a valued part of their support system.

This role is ideal for a professional who genuinely loves working with children, brings positive energy into the home, and thrives in a collaborative environment with hands-on parents and additional household staff. The family values someone with strong intuition, common sense, flexibility, and an educationally developmentally focused approach to childcare.

The ideal candidate is proactive, nurturing, organized, and comfortable balancing childcare support with light household responsibilities throughout the day. The position is geared toward the care of their 1.5-year-old (will be in school part-time starting August) and, eventually, the infant as well. The family also has a 7-year-old and a 5-year-old who have their own nanny. It is key that the candidate be a team player to help ensure seamless childcare support.

The general schedule will be Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 7:00pm with flexibility for schedule adjustments as needed.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a thoughtful, engaging, and flexible nanny seeking a long-term role with a warm and appreciative Miami family. Local candidates only, please.

Include, but are not limited to:

  • All aspects of full-charge care, including meal prep, feeding, food transitions, bathing, diapering, potty training, and always ensuring the safety and well-being of the children
  • Support school routines, including pickups, lunches, naps, outings, and activities
  • Engage children in educational and developmentally enriching activities
  • Encourage learning through play, music, language exposure, reading, flashcards, and age-appropriate routines
  • Assist with maintaining structure and consistency
  • Create a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment for the children to thrive
  • Support the emotional and developmental growth of all the children
  • Child-related housekeeping and organization

  • Strong childcare and household support experience
  • Educational and engaging approach to childcare
  • Warm, energetic personality with a genuine passion for working with children
  • Flexible, adaptable, and team-oriented
  • Excellent intuition, judgment, and common sense
  • Comfortable in a busy, evolving household environment
  • Able to balance professionalism with a warm, approachable presence in the home
  • Supportive team player
  • Dependable, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Organizational and cooking skills strongly preferred
  • Sense of humor, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Awareness of milestones and ability to foster curiosity

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong swimmer preferred (family has a pool)
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Comfortable driving children in Miami/freeway environments
  • The ability to speak another language is not required, but it would be a plus
  • Comfortable working alongside hands-on parents, including a mother who works from home
  • CPR certified
  • Legal to work in the U.S.

The family is offering $40/hr commensurate with experience, PTO, and a health insurance stipend
