Job description

Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring a Senior Unix Administrator for an exciting remote opportunity.
Job Description and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will apply their expertise in systems administration and information technology (IT) support to manage Oracle/Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux operating systems across the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) Enterprise Infrastructure environments, including Test/Development, Staging, Continuity of Operations (COOP), and Production systems.
This role requires strong technical proficiency combined with excellent customer service skills. Prior experience working within a Government or Military environment is highly desirable.
This is primarily a remote position; however, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (Dayton, OH) to support occasional on-site requirements as needed.
Core duty hours consist of an 8-hour workday, Monday through Friday, between 0700 and 1700. The office is closed on Federal holidays and may also close due to inclement weather conditions.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
  • Provide and administer UNIX and Linux NIPRnet and SIPRnet Operating Systems to ensure effective day-to-day operations and resolve issues as they occur.
  • Perform assessment, implementations, integration, configuration, device policy, event analysis, training, documentation and provide subject matter expert support to Government in accomplishing the same.
  • Perform implementation of required software to meet IA controls working with the DLA CERT and support Technology Foundation Services architecture throughout the lifecycle.
  • Support Disaster Recovery and COOP on mission critical systems.
  • Install and maintain COTS products including but not limited to: McAfee, HBSS, TripWire, ArcSight, and others.
  • Remotely provide systems management and technical troubleshooting for UNIX SIPRnet/NIPRnet systems.
  • Review, coordinate, and recommend IA standards and protocols. Perform analysis and validate and recommend security requirements including RMF.
  • Develop and document standards and guides for the implementation of IA solutions including but not limited to: compliance, system security design, security testing and IA assessments.
  • Recommend, for detected vulnerabilities that could preclude accreditation, management, operational, or technical controls to include human procedures, software configuration parameters, system changes, or combinations thereof to mitigate the risk associated with the vulnerability.
  • Perform customer support functions.

Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications
  • Seven (7) years UNIX Administration experience, two of which in specialized information processing disciplines involving a range of hardware/software solutions.
  • Three (3) years concentrated hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving software issues
  • Secret Level Security Clearance
  • DoD IAT Level II Certification (Security+ ce, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, or GSEC)
  • Computing Environment Certification, one or more of the following: SCSA (Solaris), RHCSA (Red Hat), Linux+ (Generic linux)

  • Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
