Job description

Full-Time | Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (Some weekends required)  


Do you enjoy solving mechanical problems, working with your hands, and keeping equipment in top shape? Are you the person everyone calls when something won't start, won't run, or just isn't working right? If so, the Crystal Lake Park District wants you on our team!


We're looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic Specialist to help maintain and repair the vehicles, equipment, and machinery that keep our parks, facilities, and programs operating safely and efficiently. From mowers and tractors to trucks and utility vehicles, no two days are the same in this hands-on role.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to keep equipment operating at peak performance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and ignition systems.
  • Conduct seasonal equipment inspections, setup, and winterization.
  • Maintain maintenance records and parts inventory.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair needs.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal operations during the winter season.
  • Help support special projects and operations throughout the Park District.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training in automotive, diesel, small engine, or equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Two years of mechanical maintenance and repair experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve mechanical problems independently.
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
