Job description

ChildServe has an opening for a full-time Custodian at our Johnston location.This team member performs routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment for children, families, and staff.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Schedule, coordinate, direct and perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities. Respond to service requests and coordinate resources. Report and respond to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
  • Operate power equipment such as carpet extractors, pressure washer, hand and power tools and agency vehicles as needed, following safety requirements.
  • Clean and disinfect all areas as assigned by completing vacuuming, carpet cleaning, window washing, trash removal, etc. in accordance with established procedures.
  • Order and stock facilities with paper and supplies. Maintain inventory and submit written requests for supplies.
  • Coordinate and assist with the set up and take down of furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Perform various maintenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair to fixtures in areas. Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing and electrical problems; replaces a variety of light bulbs and lighting accessories.
  • Complete minor grounds keeping duties and other related tasks as requested.

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma/equivalent, preferred
  • One year of custodial experience, preferred. Custodial and building maintenance in a school setting preferred.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
  • Frequent contact with water and strong cleaning agents and disinfectants.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
