Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Development Manager to oversee and manage projects throughout the full development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in preconstruction, estimating, budgeting, and project coordination, with the ability to drive projects from initial underwriting and design through construction completion.


This individual will work closely with internal leadership, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with company objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of the real estate development process, including due diligence, entitlement, design coordination, preconstruction, permitting, and construction oversight
  • Lead preconstruction efforts, including budgeting, estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and municipal agencies throughout project execution
  • Review project schedules, budgets, contracts, and development pro formas to ensure financial and operational objectives are achieved
  • Assist in contractor selection, bid analysis, scope reviews, and negotiation processes
  • Monitor construction progress, project costs, change orders, and overall project performance
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while proactively resolving issues that may impact schedule or budget
  • Prepare and present project updates to senior leadership and ownership groups
  • Ensure compliance with zoning, permitting, and regulatory requirements
  • Support acquisitions and feasibility analysis for future development opportunities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Finance, or related field
  • Experience in real estate development, construction management, or related industry
  • Strong experience with preconstruction, estimating, and budgeting required
  • Experience managing multifamily, mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, or large-scale residential projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, development processes, scheduling, and project financials
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management software, and budgeting tools


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a real estate developer, owner’s representative, or general contractor
  • Knowledge of South Florida development and permitting processes is a plus
  • Experience with value engineering and cost control initiatives
