Job description

Job Overview
Are you looking to make an impact on the physical, emotional and cultural needs of pediatric patients and their families? Join our team as a Level IV NICU RN at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital!

We are proud to be the only academic children's hospital in Minnesota, providing medical services in more than 50 specialty areas.
The NICU is recognized as a Level IV NICU - the highest level of care for neonates. We are a designated March of Dimes NICU Family Support® program and have a Neuro NICU for babies with neurologic conditions.
NICU Level IV:
  • 49 beds
  • Provides developmentally appropriate care to infants born 22 weeks and above
  • 1-2 patients per RN depending on stability of the baby
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioners on Staff 24/7

This position will be working 48 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend.
Provides care to patients with complex NICU needs.
  • Performs advanced monitoring using current technology
  • High Frequency ventilation
  • Cares for surgical patients with congenital anomalies, intubated patients and patients with tracheostomies
  • Total Body Cooling (TBC), Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
  • Central arterial lines/monitoring and other venous lines

Required:
  • 1 year of RN experience OR at least 6 months of current employment at UMMCH as a NICU RN
  • MN RN License
  • BLS

Preferred
  • BSN or BAN
  • Certification in related specialty.

Additional Requirements:
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire
