Job Description Summary
Join the creative heart of the College of Performing Arts as a Costume Studio Assistant! This part-time position offers students a hands-on opportunity to work behind the scenes in the exciting world of live performance. You'll play a vital role in the creation, maintenance, and organization of costumes for Theatre, Dance, and Opera productions. Gain practical experience in costume construction, wardrobe management, and theatrical production processes, all while collaborating with passionate artists and technicians.
Responsibilities
Assist with the construction, alteration, and maintenance of costumes for CoPA productions.
Support costume studio operations through organizational tasks and costume crafting.
Participate in wardrobe strike, costume inventory, and restocking.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure costume readiness for rehearsals and performances.
Required Qualifications
Successful completion of a Costume Construction course or equivalent hands-on experience.
Desired Qualifications
Enrollment in the Theatre B.A. program with a focus in technical theatre.
Demonstrated sewing skills and an interest or experience in costume, hair, and makeup for live performance.
Completion of a practicum assignment on a Wardrobe Crew is highly preferred.
Special Instructions to Applicants
Must be available Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours as production schedules require.
A minimum of 2 consecutive hours of availability per shift is required for scheduling purposes.
