Job description

The Driller's Assistant supports and assists drilling crews in geotechnical and environmental drilling operations. They are responsible for a variety of field centric duties including, driving the drill rig or semi-truck and trailer, which requires Class A CDL with air brake endorsement, maintaining the drill rigs, troubleshooting equipment problems, and working with a Driller to complete assignments using various drilling and sampling techniques.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • General aptitude for identifying and resolving complex technical problems in the field, utilizing critical thinking and logical reasoning
  • Collaborative spirit to work effectively in a team environment
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record is required
  • CDL - Class A license is preferred
  • Ability to handle physical demands, such as lifting and carrying equipment, working in various weather conditions, and traveling to different locations.
  • Ability to pass random drug and alcohol screen

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist the lead Driller in setting up, operating, and maintaining drill rigs and equipment.
  • Assist in completion of assignments using various drilling techniques, including lifting and other manual work as required.
  • Drive, operate and maintain drill rig, vehicles, forklift, skid steer, and other equipment.
  • Support Driller with positioning and aligning rig according to specifications.
  • Prepare work sites by setting up tools, loading / unloading equipment and clearing areas for drilling operations.
  • Operate hand tools and assist with maintenance and cleaning of drilling equipment.
  • Follow safety guidelines and ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Clean and maintain drill rig, vehicles, and job site areas after operations are complete.
