Job description

Location: Adkins, Texas
Job Type: Full-time, On-site
Salary: $65,000-$70,000 per year (DOE)
Top Metal Solutions is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Manufacturing & Quality Engineer to develop, improve, and support manufacturing processes within our metal fabrication operation.
In this role, you'll work closely with Engineering, Production, and Executive Management to translate engineering requirements into efficient manufacturing processes, maintain accurate production information in Odoo, and ensure quality standards are met throughout production.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and making a measurable impact in a growing company. High performers will have the opportunity to grow into leadership roles within Manufacturing, Quality, or Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Production
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, work centers, work orders, and manufacturing data in Odoo.
  • Translate engineering drawings and customer requirements into practical manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare and monitor daily and weekly production schedules.
  • Review manufacturing orders before release to ensure materials, drawings, quantities, operations, and due dates are accurate.
  • Track project progress and communicate production risks or delays.
  • Analyze estimated versus actual labor hours to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure production information in Odoo accurately reflects shop-floor activity.

Quality Assurance
  • Establish inspection plans for incoming materials, first articles, in-process work, and finished products.
  • Interpret fabrication drawings, tolerances, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform or coordinate dimensional and visual inspections.
  • Document and follow up on nonconforming products, corrective actions, and rework activities.
  • Maintain quality records, material traceability, and calibration records for measuring equipment.
  • Support compliance with AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.3 welding standards and procedures.

Continuous Improvement
  • Develop work instructions and help standardize manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Maintenance to resolve operational issues.
  • Participate in production meetings and present performance metrics to management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control principles.
  • Experience using measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Professional English communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn ERP/MRP systems.
  • Willingness to work on-site and maintain an active presence on the production floor.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or quality engineering.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience developing BOMs, routings, work instructions, and production schedules.
  • Experience with Odoo or another ERP/MRP system.
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.3, GMAW, FCAW, visual weld inspection, calibration systems, first article inspections, or corrective action processes.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Don't meet every preferred qualification? We still encourage you to apply. We value accountability, initiative, a willingness to learn, and the ability to solve problems just as much as technical experience.
Why Join Top Metal Solutions?
  • Work directly with Engineering, Production, and Executive Management.
  • Make a visible impact by improving manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Gain hands-on experience with Odoo Manufacturing, welding standards, and industrial fabrication.
  • Help build processes within a growing company where your ideas matter.
