Job description

RN, Pre-Admission Testing (Full Time Days)

The Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and completing the preoperative assessment process for patients scheduled to undergo surgical or procedural interventions. The PAT RN ensures that patients are medically optimized and prepared for surgery by completing comprehensive nursing assessments, reviewing diagnostic testing, coordinating with physicians and ancillary departments, and providing patient education. The PAT RN plays a critical role in reducing surgical delays and cancellations by identifying potential clinical risks prior to the day of surgery and ensuring all required documentation, laboratory testing, and clearances are completed in advance.

Qualifications

  • RN Job Requirements:
    • Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required. Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: Pre-Admission Testing Pre-operative nursing PACU Surgical Services Critical Care Emergency Department.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills. Knowledge of surgical and anesthesia risk factors. Ability to interpret laboratory values and diagnostic test results. Excellent patient education and communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to coordinate multiple cases and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • License / Certification: Active Florida RN License, BLS and ACLS.
  • Travel Requirements: none
