Great opportunity for a Recovery Housing - Live-in Apartment Monitor!

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position that includes free housing!

This is a great opportunity for a friendly, outgoing, independent person to work with an amazing Non-Profit providing specialized addiction treatment services for adults.

Personalized Nursing LIGHT House is a premier behavioral healthcare provider with more than 34 years of specialized addiction treatment service serving the adult population. We have locations in Plymouth, Canton and Madison Heights. Our mission is to be an innovative and effective behavioral healthcare corporation (using the LIGHT model of care), that strives for excellence clinically, as well as administratively. Specifically, our intent is to increase client well-being, decrease addiction severity, improve the quality of the client's mental and physical health, and contribute positively to Society. All services will integrate substance use disorder, mental health and primary healthcare treatment in cohesiveness and client-centered programs.


Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Site Director, Live-In Apartment Monitors will live in the same apartment building as clients. They will be the primary resource for clients for keys, bedding, pantry items, roommate issues and will assist with transportation. They will work in pairs to visit each client apartment at least three times per week, usually during the late evening. Their primary responsibilities include ensuring compliance with apartment rules, maintaining safety, and verifying that clients are not using drugs or alcohol.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Use the LIGHT model in all interactions
  • Provide caring, compassionate approach to all clients.
  • Live-In the apartment building alongside clients and follow all housing rules.
  • Visit each apartment at least three times per week, typically during the late evenings with varying times to avoid setting patterns.
  • Ensure that clients are not using drugs or alcohol in the apartment and conduct inspections for potential contraband
  • Ensure that apartments are in safe, livable conditions.
  • Ensure that no guests are in apartments after 9:00 PM and that all rules are being followed.
  • Report any issues to the Site Director immediately and document incidents as required.
  • If a client is suspected of drinking and denies it, administer an alcohol swab test off apartment property.
  • Be prepared to discharge violent or intoxicated clients by packing their belongings and arranging transportation to a motel.
  • Be prepared to call the police or 911 in case of medical or legal emergencies.
  • Mediate minor roommate issues.
  • Assist with washing bedding.
  • Assist packing up clients leaving the program as needed.
  • Prepare bedding and pantry items for new clients. Maintain a stocked pantry.
  • Assist with transporting clients as needed.
  • Administer supervised client drug tests at the clinical facility.
  • Other duties assigned.


Position Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's license: must be able to pass vehicle background check (submit driving record). Must get a Chaufferโ€™s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Willing to follow apartment rules which include no drugs or alcohol on the preemies.


Preferred Experience

  • CCAR Certification
  • Certified Peer Recovery Coach
  • Minimum 2 years in recovery
