What is a live in marine wiper?

Live In Marine Wipers are entry-level crew members who live onboard ships and are responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and assisting with the operation of the engine room and other machinery spaces. They perform essential tasks such as wiping down equipment, assisting engineers, and ensuring that machinery operates safely and efficiently. This role is often the starting point for those seeking a career in marine engineering, offering hands-on experience with shipboard systems and maintenance procedures.

A Live In Marine Wiper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the engine room and its machinery. Wipers often work closely with other engine crew members under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and may participate in emergency drills. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience and is a critical step toward advancing to more specialized marine engineering positions.
