Marine Service Personal

M&J Marine seeks motivated and energetic people to fill full-time, year-round positions in our Service Department.  No experience?  We will train you!  We have positions available including Boat Delivery Prep and Cleaning, New Boat Rigging, and Marine Technicians.  We offer clean, comfortable working conditions in our 6 bay shop facility.  Enjoy, year-round work schedule in a great part of the country to live and raise a family.

Job Purpose

The Marine Service positions are a key component in our dealership’s customer satisfaction.  The position-holder is responsible for servicing Marine Equipment for our customers in a professional and timely manner.  They will include maintaining and repairing boats, motors, drives, and trailers.

Duties and Responsibilities (Marine Technician)

·        Primary duties and responsibilities, not limited to:

·        Diagnosis, Maintenance, and Repair:

·        Test, investigate, and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures on customers and dealer units.

·        Repair units in a professional manner.

·        Perform routine maintenance on all types of marine vehicles, new and pre-owned boat packages and shop equipment.

·        Perform safety inspection and recommend service.

·        Prepare new and used inventory for delivery to customers.

·        Install Marine Electronics and Accessories.

·        Report opportunities to generate shop Labor and Parts revenue while performing maintenance.

·        Perform on water test drives as necessary.

·        Travel as needed for training schools and seminars.

General Duties and Administration:

·        Report a clear description of performed diagnoses and needed repairs to assist Service Writer.

·        Assist Parts and Service personnel with repair questions.

·        Maintain a clean and organized work area.

·        Actively pursue and participate in continuing education activities.

·        Assist fellow service department employees as needed.

·        Deliver new and used inventory to customer if needed.

Qualifications:

·        Possess knowledge of marine motor mechanics.

·        Own and provide adequate tools and tool storage box for personal daily use.

·        Marine certification and experience in not required but preferred.

·        Able to interpret complex instructions and/or specification.

·        Knowledge and practice of shop safety procedures.

·        Be detail-oriented while maintaining a high level of productivity.

·        Ability to work Saturdays.

Working Conditions

·        Shop environment that may require kneeling, bending, climbing, twisting, and lifting heavy objects.

·        Required to work more than 40 hours per week at peak boating season and during winterize season.
