How much do live in maid jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 14, 2026, the average hourly pay for live in maid in Florida is $20.01, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $11.49 and $25.14 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the typical work schedules and living arrangements for a Live In Maid?

Live In Maids usually reside in the employer's home and are provided with a private room and sometimes meals. Work schedules can vary, but often include a combination of daily cleaning, laundry, and occasional errands, with set time off each week. It’s common to have agreed-upon boundaries for personal time and privacy. Open communication with employers about expectations and routines is essential to maintain a positive work environment.

Is $50 an hour good for house cleaning?

For a live-in maid, earning $50 an hour is considered above average in many regions, where typical rates range from $15 to $30 per hour. However, pay can vary based on location, experience, and the scope of duties, with some high-end or specialized services offering higher rates. It's important to consider the total compensation package, including room and board, when evaluating pay for live-in positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Live In Maid, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live In Maid, you need strong housekeeping skills, attention to detail, and prior experience or training in household management. Familiarity with cleaning products, laundry equipment, and sometimes smart home systems is often required. Discretion, reliability, and good communication are essential soft skills for building trust and maintaining a positive living environment. These abilities ensure a high standard of cleanliness, smooth daily operations, and harmonious relationships with household members.

What are live-in maids?

Live-in maids are domestic workers who reside in their employer's home and provide housekeeping services such as cleaning, laundry, cooking, and sometimes childcare. They typically have their own room or living space within the household. In exchange for their work, live-in maids usually receive a salary along with room and board. Their schedules and duties may vary depending on the family's needs, and employment terms should be clearly outlined to ensure both parties' expectations are met.

Do people still hire live-in maids?

Yes, live-in maids are still hired in many households, especially in regions where domestic help is common. The role typically involves daily cleaning, cooking, and other household tasks, often requiring a live-in arrangement for convenience and privacy. Demand varies based on cultural norms and economic factors.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A live-in maid typically does not earn $10,000 a month without specialized skills or management responsibilities. High earnings in such roles are rare and usually involve additional duties, private arrangements, or working for high-net-worth individuals. Most jobs with this income level require advanced skills, certifications, or entrepreneurial ventures rather than standard domestic work.

How much to hire a maid monthly?

The monthly cost to hire a live-in maid typically ranges from $800 to $2,500, depending on location, experience, and duties required. Rates may include room and board, and additional expenses such as benefits or supplies can affect the overall cost.
