Compensation: Competitive Daily Rate starting at $2,000 (based on experience) + Travel amp; Housing Assistance Available
Location: Lakewood, Colorado
Assignment: December 2026 โ€“ February 2027
Make Colorado Your Office This Winter
Spend your winter practicing exceptional medicine by day and enjoying everything Colorado has to offer after hours. Whether you're carving fresh powder, exploring mountain towns, or simply looking for a change of scenery, Evolution Veterinary Specialists is looking for a board-certified (or residency-trained) Veterinary Surgeon to join our team on a locum basis this winter.
Work alongside an incredible team, practice advanced surgery in a state-of-the-art hospital, and experience why Colorado is consistently one of the best places to live, work, and play.
Why Choose Evolution Veterinary Specialists (EVS)?
We are a privately owned, AAHA-accredited, 26,000 sq ft specialty and emergency hospital located at the base of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Our state-of-the-art facility includes a 2,500 sq ft ICU featuring Snyder units and high-flow oxygen therapy, designed to support our most critical patients. We also offer a newly expanded, four-suite surgery center and an on-site blood bank to support advanced procedures and trauma care. Additional highlights include specialty procedure suites, a full imaging center with CT, and cutting-edge technology such as 4D echocardiography, fluoroscopy, laparoscopy, and laser therapy.
Here, youโ€™ll work side-by-side with board-certified specialists and experienced ER doctors in an environment that values integrity, growth, and compassion. We pride ourselves on transparency, support, and a values-driven environment that puts people and pets first without the red tape of a corporate system.
Your Role as a Locum Veterinary Surgeon
You'll join an established surgery service with an experienced support team to provide exceptional surgical care during our busy winter season. As a vital member of our Surgery team, you'll play a hands-on role in delivering advanced surgical care to patients, performing both routine and emergency procedures, collaborating with our multidisciplinary team, and utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical technology to achieve the best possible outcomes. You'll build and manage a diverse surgical caseload, communicate closely with referring veterinarians and clients, mentor and support technical staff, and contribute to the continued growth of our surgery service through education, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. This position is ideal for a compassionate, highly skilled, and curious individual who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments and wants to make a difference every single day.
Youโ€™ll use your expertise to:

-Diagnose, treat, and manage surgical cases from consultation through recovery.
-Utilize advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical technology.
-Collaborate with specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, and referring veterinarians.
