Position Overview

A private family in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced, organized, and proactive full-time live-in Nanny / Family Assistant. The family divides its time between two residences in Columbus and Oconomowoc, and the position follows the family between both homes, so flexibility and a willingness to live and work at each location are essential.

The primary focus of this role is attentive care for twin infant daughters, paired with family assistant and household support responsibilities completed around the children's routines. The nanny works alongside a live-in au pair, with childcare coverage and some household responsibilities shared between them; the nanny is the primary caregiver and the lead on household organization. A cleaning service is also in place.

The family is looking for someone who takes genuine initiative, balances childcare and household tasks well, and brings a calm, patient presence to infant care. This is a long-term opportunity for a candidate who enjoys both hands-on infant care and keeping a well-run household. The area is small-town rather than urban, and Wisconsin winters are demanding, so candidates comfortable with both will be the strongest fit.

Benefits

  • Private bedroom in both residences, fully furnished
  • In Columbus: a separate 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom guest apartment on the property, fully separate from the family home, with its own stove and refrigerator; shared with the au pair
  • In Oconomowoc: a private wing above the kitchen area with two bedrooms and a private bathroom, separate from the family's living quarters; kitchen shared with the household
  • Medical stipend
  • Two weeks of paid time off
  • Federal holidays off, or additional wages if working a holiday
  • Family-provided vehicle for work and personal use
  • Shared household groceries at the Oconomowoc residence
  • Two consecutive days off each week (Sunday and Monday)
  • No overnight responsibilities between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM, except in an emergency
  • Free to come and go during non-working hours

Responsibilities

Infant Care

  • Provide loving, attentive care for twin infant daughters
  • Feeding, bottle preparation, burping, diapering, and changing
  • Establish and maintain consistent feeding and sleep routines, with attention to wake windows
  • Nap and bedtime preparation; twins go down at 7:00 PM
  • Bathing and general infant care
  • Outdoor walks, age-appropriate play, and developmental engagement
  • Children's laundry and keeping nursery areas organized
  • Monitor and communicate the children's daily schedules and needs
  • Maintain a calm, safe, clean, and nurturing environment
  • Coordinate care and communication with the family's au pair

Family Assistant / Household

  • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operation of the household
  • Keep the home organized, tidy, and running efficiently
  • Light to moderate household cleaning and organization
  • Laundry, linens, and general household upkeep
  • Grocery shopping and household errands
  • Meal preparation and cooking, including family meals
  • Keep household supplies stocked and organized
  • Coordinate service providers, deliveries, and maintenance appointments
  • Help organize household schedules and activities
  • Assist with packing, unpacking, and preparing the home when moving between residences
  • Maintain organization of children's clothing, supplies, toys, and equipment
  • Anticipate household needs and take initiative rather than waiting to be asked
  • Other reasonable household and family-support responsibilities associated with the position

Requirements

  • Previous professional experience as a nanny, family assistant, personal assistant, or in household management
  • Significant infant experience is required; multiples experience is a strong plus
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Immunizations up to date
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to relocate and to live and work at both residences
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A warm, caring, patient personality
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the family's privacy
  • A proactive, self-directed approach to identifying and completing tasks
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the family and the au pair
  • Comfort working in a household with a dog
  • Comfort in a rural, small-town setting and with cold-weather winter conditions
  • Must be able to provide 3–5 professional references
