Job description

About Wall Street Prep

Founded in 2004 by investment bankers, Wall Street Prep (WSP) is a leading provider of professional skills training in financial and valuation modeling. Our mission is to bridge the gap between academia and the real world by equipping finance professionals and students with practical, hands-on skills.

We partner with top-tier investment banks, private equity and investment management firms, Fortune 500 companies, and elite undergraduate and MBA programs. Our training is delivered through engaging in-person classroom sessions and via our industry-leading online learning platform, all designed by experienced finance professionals.

Position Overview

As a Private Banking Instructor specializing in sales and relationship management, you will design and deliver practical, client-facing skills training for private banking and wealth management professionals, from new-joiner induction through advanced sales accreditation. You will translate firsthand industry experience into engaging instruction on prospecting, needs discovery, solution presentation, and long-term relationship management.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a lead facilitator for private banking and wealth management training programs
  • Help professionals strengthen the commercial, advisory, and interpersonal skills required to serve high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients
  • Enhance your presentation and coaching skills, expand your professional network, and establish yourself as a thought leader in private banking education

The ideal candidate has direct experience as a private banker, relationship manager, or wealth advisor and brings both practitioner credibility and a genuine passion for teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver live in-person and virtual training seminars to private banks, wealth managers, and other financial institutions, covering topics such as:
  • Prospecting and new-client acquisition
  • Consultative discovery and needs-based selling
  • Solution presentation, pitch development, and storytelling
  • Relationship management, cross-selling, and share-of-wallet growth
  • Fee and negotiation conversations, objection handling, and client retentionTrusted-advisor behaviors, executive presence, and cultural adaptability
  • Collaborate on curriculum development, including:
  • Designing workshop agendas, learning outcomes, case studies, role plays, and assessments
  • Editing and updating training materials to ensure relevance, accuracy, and alignment with current industry practice
  • Developing blended learning materials for audiences ranging from new hires to experienced relationship managers and desk heads
  • Coach participants through realistic client scenarios and provide clear, actionable feedback
  • Integrate ethical, appropriate, and compliant sales practices throughout all instruction
  • Complete WSP's Train-the-Trainer Program, a structured professional development initiative for new instructors
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: Significant firsthand experience as a private banker, relationship manager, wealth advisor, or similar client-facing professional serving HNW/UHNW individuals, family offices, or External Asset Managers. A demonstrated record of prospecting, pitching, and managing or growing a book of business is strongly preferred.
  • Product Knowledge: Working knowledge of the private banking product shelf, including discretionary and advisory portfolio management, structured products, alternatives, credit and lending, wealth planning, trusts, and philanthropic advisory. Candidates should be able to translate product features into client benefits rather than simply explain definitions.
  • Sales Methodology: Fluency in consultative and needs-based selling approaches, such as SPIN Selling, Challenger Sale, or comparable discovery frameworks, with the ability to adapt them to private banking.
  • Relationship Management: Strong grounding in trusted-advisor behaviors, objection handling, fee and negotiation conversations, cross-selling, client retention, and share-of-wallet growth strategies.
  • Teaching & Communication: Exceptional presentation, facilitation, storytelling, and coaching skills, with the ability to convert practitioner expertise into clear, engaging learning experiences.
  • Behavioral Skills: Comfort teaching active listening, nonverbal communication, cultural adaptability, resilience, professional maturity, and executive presence alongside technical product content.
  • Compliance Mindset: Familiarity with ethical and compliant sales practices in a regulated wealth management environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA or relevant professional designation is preferred but not required.
Availability
  • Part-time, project-based commitment with availability for multi-day training engagements
  • Weekday availability is highly desirable, with flexibility based on client schedules
  • Ability to conduct week-long or multi-week seminars is highly desirable
  • Flexibility to deliver programs virtually and travel domestically or internationally for in-person engagements
Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation: Highly competitive daily rate
  • Benefits: All approved travel and accommodation expenses covered by WSP
  • Paid professional development through WSP's Train-the-Trainer Program
  • Opportunities to deepen your expertise in private banking, wealth management, advisory sales, and relationship management
  • Expand your professional network across leading financial institutions
  • Develop exceptional facilitation, coaching, public speaking, and presentation skills
  • Join an energetic, entrepreneurial-minded team that values collaboration and innovation
