Part-Time Junior Designer - Home Stager / Visual Merchandiser.
Location: New York, NY (Must be NYC-based with ability to travel to Hudson Valley Headquarters).
Job Type: PART-TIME.

Cathy Hobbs Design Recipes is one of the most recognized home staging brands in the country, consistently ranked among the Top 10 in the U.S. and Top 5 in Manhattan. Founded by Emmy Award-winning TV host and HGTV Design Star finalist Cathy Hobbs, CHDR operates from a stunning 12,500 sq ft Passive House Certified Warehouse and Design Center set on 4 acres surrounded by orchards in The Hudson Valley.
Who We’re Looking For:
An ambitious (PART-TIME) entry level/junior stylist with a strong interest in interior design, visual merchandising, and or real estate staging. You’re dependable, organized, ready to roll up your sleeves, and eager to learn from top-tier professionals in a high-paced, high-style environment. Candidates with a background in interior styling and visual merchandising will receive elevated consideration.
This isn’t a desk job-you’ll be out in the field conducting walk-throughs with real estate agents, pulling inventory, completing pick sheets, and participating in live installations. If you’re looking for real-world experience with a respected, nationally recognized design firm, then this opportunity is for you!
You Might Be a Fit If You:
  • Have studied Interior Design, Home Products, Visual Merchandising, or a related field.
  • Have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Are excited to be hands-on-on job sites, in the warehouse, and at staging installs.
  • Can take direction but also work independently and show initiative.
  • Work well under pressure in a team-based environment.
  • Live in New York City and can travel to the Hudson Valley 1–2 times a week as needed. (Required for consideration).
  • Have basic skills in furniture handling, accessory placement, or layout execution.
  • Bonus: Experience in visual merchandising or styling (especially in home decor).

What You’ll Do:
  • Conduct property walkthroughs with real estate agents to assess design and staging needs.
  • Complete pick sheets and pull inventory from our curated warehouse.
  • Participate in staging installations and setups in luxury homes and short-term rentals.
  • Style spaces using furniture, accessories, and artwork.
  • Contribute to a fast-moving, team-driven creative environment.
