What is a live in hotel?

Live-in hotel jobs are positions within a hotel where the employee is provided with accommodation on the hotel premises as part of their employment. These roles can include housekeeping, front desk staff, maintenance, management, or other hospitality positions. Living on-site often allows employees to save on commuting and housing costs and can offer flexible work schedules. However, it may also require employees to be available for work during odd hours or emergencies. This arrangement is common in resorts, remote locations, or small hotels where on-site staff presence is essential.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a live in hotel manager?

To thrive as a Live-In Hotel Manager, you generally need experience in hospitality management, knowledge of hotel operations, and often a degree or certification in hospitality or hotel management. Familiarity with property management systems (PMS), reservation platforms, and budgeting software is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability help in managing both staff and guest relations around the clock. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring smooth hotel operations, guest satisfaction, and effective team leadership in a dynamic environment.

What are some unique challenges faced by live in hotel staff, and how can they be managed?

Live-in hotel staff often face the challenge of maintaining a healthy work-life balance since their workplace and home are in the same location. Boundaries can blur, leading to longer working hours and less personal time. To manage this successfully, it's important to establish clear schedules, communicate regularly with management about time off, and take advantage of any amenities or staff support offered by the hotel. Building good relationships with both colleagues and guests can also help create a comfortable and supportive living environment.

Job description

Now hiring a Hotel Task Force Manager at the NCG Hospitality.

Join Our Team – A 2026 Top Workplace in Hospitality Winner!

At NCG Hospitality, we believe great hotels start with great people. As a 2026 Top Workplace in Hospitality Winner, we are proud of the culture we've built and the talented team members who make our success possible.

We're looking for a dynamic, experienced, and highly adaptable Task Force Manager to support our growing portfolio of hotels. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving operational challenges, leading teams through change, and making an immediate impact, we'd love to hear from you!

This is a travel-intensive, field-based position that will spend approximately 80-90% of the time traveling to and working from NCG Hospitality properties across the company's portfolio. The position is not a traditional remote or work-from-home role. The employee may maintain a home base of their choosing and may live anywhere in the United States, but should expect frequent travel and extended time working onsite at different hotel locations.

In this role, you'll provide leadership and operational support across multiple NCG Hospitality-managed properties, assisting with management transitions, new hotel openings, acquisitions, distressed properties, and other critical business needs. No two assignments are the same, making this an exciting opportunity for a hospitality leader who enjoys travel, variety, and the opportunity to make an immediate impact.

How You'll Make an Impact

As the Task Force Manager, you'll play a critical role in supporting hotels across the NCG Hospitality portfolio by providing operational leadership, developing teams, improving performance, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. In this role, you will:

  • Provide hands-on leadership and operational support during management transitions, new hotel openings, acquisitions, distressed property assignments, and other special projects.
  • Oversee daily hotel operations and provide General Manager-level leadership across all departments.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing hotel team members and leaders.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive culture while driving team member satisfaction and retention.
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional guest service and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Support hotel budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and sales initiatives to drive financial performance.
  • Analyze financial results, identify performance gaps, and implement improvement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies, safety requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct property inspections and quality audits to maintain high standards of cleanliness, service, and overall hotel performance.
  • Partner with Regional Vice Presidents and property leadership teams to execute operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with leadership meetings, company events, and special projects throughout the organization.
  • Provide detailed operational assessments and transition plans at the conclusion of assignments.
  • Support a variety of operational needs as business demands require.
What Does Success Look Like in This Role?

The ideal candidate is a confident hospitality leader who thrives in changing environments and can quickly build relationships, establish credibility, and produce results. Success in this role means stepping into complex situations, creating stability, developing teams, driving operational performance, and ensuring every property delivers an exceptional guest experience. The most successful Task Force Managers are highly adaptable, enjoy frequent travel, and are energized by supporting a variety of hotels and teams across the NCG Hospitality portfolio.

To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Bring:
  • A college degree or equivalent hospitality leadership experience.
  • Five or more years of hotel experience, including at least three years in a management role.
  • Strong operational knowledge across hotel departments, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, sales, revenue management, and food and beverage.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and P&L responsibility.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • A professional, positive, and guest-focused leadership style.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and successfully manage changing priorities.
  • Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt brand experience required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 80-90% of the time, including extended stays at NCG Hospitality-managed properties throughout the United States.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel overnight as needed.
  • A commitment to embracing and demonstrating NCG Hospitality's Vision, Mission, Values, Culture, and Operating Philosophy.
