Resident Overnight Counselor
FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay: $380/ Per week
Status: Full-Time (Seasonal)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Summer Camp Director, a resident overnight counselor will work closely with a co-counselor to lead a group of campers through a successful week at camp. Counselors are responsible for campers in the cabin, leading activities, and assisting campers through any challenges and triumphs they may face throughout the week.
The position runs from June 2026 through August 2026.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Alongside a co-counselor, supervise and live with up to 12 campers.
  2. Create a supportive cabin environment where campers feel respected and will learn to respect one another.
  3. Plan and lead daily camp programs and activities including but not limited to archery, canoeing, sports, crafts, etc.
  4. Responsible for the safety and welfare of all campers enrolled in programming including maintaining the appropriate ratio and supervision at all times.
  5. Assist with cabin activities, which include horse trail rides, zip-lining, and BB gun range.
  6. Participate in activities with children, which includes swimming daily in our pool.
  7. Provide physical, emotional, and/or social support to campers.
  8. Ability to assist campers with a variety of needs such as homesickness, behavior management, and conflict resolution.
  9. Support and implement a work environment that puts campers first.
  10. Follow safety guidelines.
  11. Implement all ACA and Camp Campbell Gard rules and regulations.
  12. Work effectively as a team with all Camp Campbell Gard staff.
  13. Participate in evening programming, House Games, and acting and singing at campfires.
  14. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • First Aid and CPR Certifications or willingness to obtain.
  • Must have a desire and willingness to work with children.
  • Previous work or volunteer experience with children.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly and have quick response.
  • Demonstrate good judgment.
