Magnolia Companies is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support our Underground Utilities Division. This position is responsible for operating heavy construction equipment to support the installation of underground sewer and water systems.


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience operating construction equipment, including crawler excavators and loaders, with experience excavating around existing underground utilities. Candidates must be safety-focused, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a field construction team.


This role requires the ability to operate equipment efficiently, maintain equipment in good working condition, and assist other craft workers as needed to complete project tasks.


Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy construction equipment, including crawler excavators (large to mini size), front-end loaders, and other related equipment.
  • Perform excavation, grading, trenching, and material movement activities for sewer and water installation projects.
  • Safely excavate around existing underground utilities while following jobsite safety procedures.
  • Install underground sewer and water systems according to project specifications and requirements.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper operation and care.
  • Assist other craft workers and field personnel to support successful project completion.
  • Follow instructions from foremen, supervisors, and project leadership.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
  • Experience with sewer and water installation required.
  • Proven experience operating crawler excavators, mini excavators, and front-end loaders.
  • Experience excavating around existing underground utilities required.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and jobsite procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in various field conditions.
  • Ability to perform equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Valid driver’s license required, DC Operator’s License preferred.
