Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION PURPOSE

You’ll be working in a team environment to efficiently carry out duties while working towards the safety target of zero harm and demonstrating the Capstone Values. The position requires a large portion of your time in the field performing tasks as assigned around the entire mine and outlying areas.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As an operations support pipefitter you will be working in the field performing the duties listed.

  • Lay Out
  • Fabrication
  • Assemble
  • Install and maintain pipe systems
  • Pipe support
  • Related Hydraulic and Pneumatic equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed
  • Boom truck
  • Fundamentals of Safety
  • Acid safety training
  • LOTOTO (Lock Out-Tag Out-Test Out)
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs and across uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold environments with high humidity.
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop and squat, including in confined spaces.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of open pit mining preferred.
  • Prior experience in copper operation strongly preferred.
  • To support and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write English.

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
