Terms of Employment: 10-month, Full-time Employee

Odyssey is a full-scale K-12 Charter School currently serving 2,500+ students. Our school features a growing dual immersion program, an innovative Green Initiative, a community food program, and strong academic outcomes.
Odyssey is united in its mission to prepare lifelong learners who are culturally aware, global citizens who utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills grounded in the classical teachings of Greek education and language. Through the Socratic Method and inquiry-based learning, students are empowered to leverage their unique skills and talents in an equitable and collaborative environment where all students can succeed.
Job Summary: Odyssey Charter School is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and culturally responsive Greek speaking Paraprofessional. The Greek-Speaking Paraprofessional supports teachers and students in a dual-language/Greek language educational environment by assisting with classroom instruction, student supervision, and daily learning activities. The paraprofessional helps reinforce academic instruction, facilitates communication and learning in Greek and English as appropriate, and contributes to a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware Instructional Paraprofessional Certification in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
  • Additional qualifications and/or alternatives as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and Administration.
  • Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of Greek language standards (ACTFL)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages (Greek and English)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to recognize and handle challenges, stressors, and academic difficulties surrounding students and modify instruction accordingly
  • A global citizenship and collaborative mindset
  • Experience working in a multicultural/multilingual environment
  • Experience instructing in Greek as a foreign/second language in a immersion or foreign language program preferred.
  • Bilingualism and biliteracy in Greek and English is required

Required Competencies:
  • Relationships- the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and key school stakeholders across the school
  • Knowledge- a working knowledge of best practices, our current charter, State and local expectations and systems, and each student's IEP and 504 accommodations and goals
  • Dedication- a desire to aid all students excel academically and socially as pertaining to their peers, 504, and IEP expectations
  • Community- the ability to support teacher systems and procedures within the classroom, discuss concerns and progress with parents and staff as called upon, and articulate student needs as they change
