Job description

North Point Technology is looking to hire a Systems Operations Engineer to support the GEOINT Visualization Services (GVS) environment. This is an onsite role in Herndon, VA. The qualified candidate must have an active Top Secret (TS) security clearance to start, with TS/SCI preferred, and will provide day-to-day system operations, security scanning, patch management, and on-call support. The ideal candidate is a strong systems and operations professional who enjoys keeping mission-critical environments secure, stable, and compliant while partnering closely with customers and teammates.

Responsibilities:

This position involves day-to-day system operations supporting the GVS environment. Duties will include security scanning, patch management, and on-call support, as well as liaising with the customer, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with contractual performance metrics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Systems and operations experience
  • Proficiency with Linux (Red Hat), PostgreSQL, AWS, and Apache

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Help desk and technical customer service background
  • Automation and scripting (Python, Bash)
  • Monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Matomo, or ELK
  • GIS visualization tools (Google Earth, ArcGIS, OpenLayers, Cesium)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance to start; TS/SCI preferred
  • BS in a technical discipline (or equivalent)
