Job DescriptionPosition Summary:

This position will enhance the Geospatial Data and Analysis Program's technical expertise in coding and automation process development across agency data analysis and management needs. To learn more visit https://csfs.colostate.edu/.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Collaborate withother GIS stafftomaintainand enhancestate-widedata pipelines and applications with the goal ofstreamliningdataingestion,management,and standardization acrossthe Statetosupportdataaccessibility for legislativeand budgetary/fundinginquiries.
  • Supports other GIS staff in themaintenanceand enhancement ofexternal partnershipsrelated tostate-wide forest management data.
  • SupporttheGIShelpdeskand respond tointernal and externalrequests for technical assistance.
  • Lead GIStrainingindata use and analysis, andmobile data collection applications for CSFS staff and external partners.
  • Work with the Supervisory GIS Specialist to develop quality assurance/quality control and metadatastandards andapply these to data and information.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Expected to be available during normal work hours 9am-5pm (M-F). Irregular work hours and periodic long days with off-site and overnight travel may berequired.
  • Valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
Supervision:

This position does not supervise.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in GIS/geospatial science, OR a bachelor's degree in another natural resource program with a GIS minor or certificate, or geography with GIS coursework.
  • 3+ years of GIS experienceisrequired(can be a combination of professional and educational experience), withdemonstratedproficiencyin some of the following: geospatial analysis, cartographic principles and standards, remote sensing, user support and training, and mobile data collection.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least3years of education and experience in the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing, including supporting or training natural resource practitioners in the use of GIS and/or mobile data collection applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of integrated GIS principles, systems, and technologies.
  • Demonstratedexpertisein ESRI ArcGIS software including ArcGIS Pro.
  • Proficiencywith ArcGIS Online, ESRI mobile applications (Survey123, Field Maps),Avenza, and GPS use.
  • Experience in developing training materials and teaching.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills anddemonstratedability to work cooperatively and effectively in teams and with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Innovative, enthusiastic, and creative in finding ways to meet and serveagency staff, problem solve, and provide technicalassistance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and ata high levelofproficiency.
  • Capable of effectively documenting accomplishments and record-keeping.
  • Understanding of University, State and Federal information management policies and processes.
