Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to evaluate the psychological and emotional health of elderly patients, identifying their unique needs and risks.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that consider cognitive, physical, and social factors affecting the patients’ mental health.
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual therapy and family therapy, tailored to address geriatric psychiatric conditions effectively.
• Collaborate with geriatric psychiatrists and other interdisciplinary professionals to ensure patients receive comprehensive and holistic care.
• Offer crisis intervention services, providing immediate support during mental health emergencies affecting elderly patients.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and pertinent community resources.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant documentation in alignment with legal and ethical standards.
• Engage in team meetings, share insights during case consultations, and partake in ongoing professional development opportunities.
• Stay updated on the latest research, best practices, and advancements in geriatric mental health care to enhance therapy effectiveness.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on the geriatric population, addressing issues prevalent in older adults such as cognitive decline, emotional distress, and the impact of aging on mental health. As a therapist, you will employ tailored interventions that reflect an empathetic understanding of the challenges faced by elderly individuals, working closely with both patients and their families to foster a supportive therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A valid and current licensure as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in Texas.
• Solid understanding of geriatric mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment methodologies.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build rapport with elderly patients and their families.
• Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems and other technology necessary for remote client engagements.
• A collaborative attitude and the ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, particularly in geriatric mental health settings.
• Experience in conducting family therapy and navigating complex family dynamics associated with aging.
• Familiarity with community mental health resources and geriatric support services.

Compensation and Benefits
