Job description

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Review customer-provided information to identify factors affecting product design.
  • Perform necessary calculations to ensure dimensions, tolerances and other specifications are accurate as represented; notify customer of any discrepancies.
  • Apply knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, etc., in developing designs.
  • Consult other departments as needed to ensure integrity and manufacturability.
  • Define, verify, and update bill of material requirements as drawings are developed.
  • Ensure accuracy of work by checking dimensions, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and of various parts to the entire project.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when other activities are ready to be performed during the design process (material updates, design checks, obtaining load calculation certifications, etc.)
  • Submit preliminary and approval drawing packages to customers for review; make changes as needed.
  • Submit final (certified) drawing package to customer.
  • Submit fabrication drawings to manufacturing and monitor throughout the manufacturing process.

YOU HAVE:
  • Two-year technical degree in drafting and design
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD drafting software and with 3-D modeling software (AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Thorough knowledge of electro-mechanical product design drafting practices
  • Ability to accurately and independently generate complex designs and assemblies
  • Solid performance on pre-employment skills testing
  • Ideally 5+ years of electro-mechanical product design experience
