About This Role
Dow has an exciting opportunities for Instrument Technicians in Plaquemine, LA.
This position is to maintain plant instrumentation including preventative maintenance and breakdowns. The job encompasses installation, repair, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation and test equipment used to control & measure variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force and chemical composition.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain plant instrumentation.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks and complete work request.
  • Perform calibrations per proper procedures.
  • Installation and checkout of plant instrumentation.
  • Assist in start-up of new installations.
  • Assist Manufacturing and Engineering or instrument related issues.
  • Assure completion of proper documentation.
  • Proper use and maintenance of test equipment.
  • Assist in stocking spare equipment and parts.
  • Develop skills via formal training and self-study.
  • Assist in the development and training of newer employees.
  • Available for OT/emergency call -ins.
  • Attend all safety meetings
  • Adhere to all safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
  • Must comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Corporate environmental, safety and health regulations.

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 3 or more years instrumentation experience OR 3 or more years of relevant military experience.
  • Able to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Able to work an on-call schedule.
  • Able to work a 4-10 schedule.
  • Must have current, valid US Driver's License.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications
  • NCCER certified in Instrumentation (NCCER Certification obtained through an Instructor Led Training Program is a preference).
  • Associates degree or higher in Instrumentation.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Frequent/occasional lifting of material weighing approximately 50 lbs.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
  • Stand 50% of the time.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.
  • Work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs. (This typically accommodates individuals who weigh 285 or less)
