Position Overview
The Additive Manufacturing Technician will support the hands-on fabrication of additively manufactured flight hardware. Following established procedures, work instructions, and sequences of operations, the technician will operate, maintain, and monitor additive manufacturing machinery, and handle powder safely. This role requires attention to detail, technical proficiency, and flexibility to support machine schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate additive machines such as EOS M290, EOS M4K, SLM 280, and SLM NXG.
  • Perform machine setup, calibration, operation, and daily maintenance.
  • Remove build supports from printed parts.
  • Safely handle powder, including sieving, sampling, loading, and cleaning.
  • Conduct self-inspection of parts/components with attention to detail.
  • Monitor builds according to flexible schedules.
  • Ensure traceability of all powder and parts.
  • Document test procedures and results, suggesting improvements to manufacturing and engineering processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop manufacturing solutions and address issues.
  • Uphold compliance with customer and industry quality standards and safety regulations related to powder handling.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Propose innovative technologies and ideas to enhance additive manufacturing solutions.
  • Use hand, power, and pneumatic tools effectively.
  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned, including flexibility for machine schedules, weekends, or extended hours.

Required Qualifications
  • Able to work flexible hours according to machine build schedules.
  • U.S. Person status compliant with ITAR
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes, raw materials, and quality control standards.
  • Proficiency with hand, pneumatic, and power tools.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Technical proficiency with digital interfaces, MS SharePoint, and MS Office.
  • U.S. Citizenship required. Must be eligible to hold or maintain a DoD security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of experience in additive manufacturing or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with EOS and SLM additive manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
