Our company has been developing and manufacturing advanced surgical technologies for over 35 years and has earned a strong reputation for excellence in the healthcare field.  Our unique business model, combined with our dedication to delivering the highest quality products, enables team members to contribute in a larger capacity than is possible in typical positions.

Position Description

The Front-End Developer at Applied Medical is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-quality, user-facing web applications that support critical business operations across the organization. This position plays a significant role in creating responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces that deliver exceptional experiences to internal and external stakeholders. The Front-End Developer works closely with UX/UI Designers, back-end engineers, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance professionals to translate requirements into functional, visually polished applications. Applied Medical is committed to building a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. The Front-End Developer will have opportunities to grow their skills, mentor peers, and contribute to architectural decisions that shape the direction of our front-end technology stack.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain resilient, high-performance web applications and reusable UI components using modern JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-tested front-end code while participating in code reviews to ensure quality, security, and consistency.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor to improve development efficiency while maintaining coding standards.
  • Collaborate with UX and UI designers to implement responsive, accessible designs and provide technical feedback on feasibility and best practices.
  • Integrate front-end applications with back-end APIs and services, collaborating with back-end engineers on data contracts and integration strategies.
  • Optimize application performance, identify front-end bottlenecks, and implement enhancements to improve usability and load times.
  • Ensure compliance with web accessibility standards, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, across browsers and devices.
  • Participate in sprint planning, architectural discussions, and technical refinement sessions within cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Support and evolve the front-end design system and component library to promote reusability and consistent user experiences.
Success in This Role Looks Like
  • Delivering front-end features and UI components that are maintainable, well-tested, and performant.
  • Producing code that consistently passes peer review and can be easily understood, extended, and maintained by other developers.
  • Collaborating effectively with designers, product partners, and back-end engineers to meet business and technical objectives.
  • Proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving front-end issues using strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Taking ownership of assigned features or initiatives while adapting to evolving priorities and requirements.
  • Contributing to a collaborative engineering culture by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrating ongoing growth in front-end architecture, accessibility, performance optimization, or design systems.

Position Requirements
