Pro-Tel is seeking a highly capable Site Supervisor to lead high-visibility, large-scale fiber optic infrastructure projects within mission-critical hyperscaler data center environments. This role focuses on overseeing high-density fiber splicing, advanced optical testing, and ensuring ultra-low loss budgets are met across complex network topologies. The locations are Hyperscaler Data Center Sites / Remote Office Environment with travel to various field locations.
Candidates will need to be located in the area of Columbus, Ohio.

What you'll do
  • Site Leadership: Lead an on-site technical team of fiber splicers and technicians to complete the assigned fiber deployment projects on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Quality Control & Testing: Oversee all optical testing (OTDR, OLTS, VFL, and fiber characterization), ensure accurate interpretation of test results (e.g., SOR files), and guarantee that insertion loss and return loss meet stringent hyperscaler standards.
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, report identified risks to management, and provide recommendations for mitigation, particularly regarding site-specific safety hazards, critical facility rules, and clean-room environment restrictions.
  • Client & Vendor Liaison: Act as the primary on-site liaison between our company, the hyperscaler client, facility representatives, other trades, and equipment vendors. Address questions, concerns, and complaints throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Scheduling & Administration: Utilize project management software to build daily progress reports, track splicing matrices, and manage crew schedules to align with the Baseline Project Schedule.
  • Cross-functional Interface: Interface with all levels of management in operations, engineering, installation, and procurement services to implement needed areas of change and operational improvements.

The pay range is $90,000-$100,000 per year depending on experience
What you'll need
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize, delegate, and meet strict regulatory deadlines. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Analytical: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve and minimize recurring field problems, specifically relating to optical link failures, macrobends, and dirty connectors.
  • Technical / Software: Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Google office applications, and general file structures, alongside proficiency with testing software (e.g., EXFO FastReporter, Viavi).
  • Industry Knowledge: Thorough understanding of (or the ability to quickly learn about) hyperscaler network architectures (spine-and-leaf), high-fiber-count ribbon splicing, single-mode/multi-mode deployment, and data center hot/cold aisle protocols.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Travel & Site Conditions: Includes a remote office environment, but also requires travel with potential overnight stays. Must be able to work in active data center environments, adhering to strict security, PPE, and noise safety requirements.
  • Physicality: Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, and the physical dexterity to navigate around server racks, overhead conveyances, and under raised floors.
