Job description


WJAR, Southern New England's News Leader and one of America's most-watched television stations, has a rare opportunity for a producer of a live, daily news-talk program on television. "Gene Off Script" is hosted by a dynamic anchor covering current events and compelling topics and includes guests and interaction with viewers. The ideal candidate will follow the news closely in Southern New England and nationally, be flexible and work quickly. Previous experience in a newsroom and with a live program are required.
Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with show host and news managers
  • Originating segment and interview ideas
  • Booking guests and researching topics
  • Editing video for the program
  • Posting stories online and to social media
  • Live production and timing in the control room
  • Supervising an associate producer

Required Skills and Experience:
  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • You must have strong writing and news judgment skills
  • Experience with Avid and Adobe editing software a plus
  • A 4-year degree in Journalism or Mass Communications
