Job description

Overview: TechWise is supporting international students from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) while studying aircraft maintenance in the United States. We seek highly qualified Cultural Advisors (CA) to provide students advice, tutoring and mentorship. The CA will work to increase program success rates through assisting students with language, customs, in-class comprehension, studies, and extra-curricular activities during a two-year US based education program.
Job Summary: Our Cultural Advisor should be familiar with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member nations' cultures, customs, and courtesies. The advisor will work closely with the training institution staff, students and local community to help assimilate foreign students into a two-year training program. The advisor will work alongside students and instructors as required to enable success through transition periods and with materials that require a higher command of the English language. Our CA will also be called upon to support and attend field trips to both local and out of area adventure and education activities. The advisor will present materials in a classroom setting, provide tutor support, help design training material and may be required to work differential shifts or weekends, within a 40 hour week, to account for program needs.
Essential Functions: The cultural advisors will be vocal advocates for the students, instructors and local community. They will be able to sense and identify issues at the earliest possible time. They will advocate on behalf of the students, community and program team to mitigate issues and provide for conflict resolution.
Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Calm demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in written, spoken English
  • Fluent in written, spoken Arabic
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Detailed knowledge of GCC cultures, customs, courtesies
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills, with an ability to provide classroom instruction
  • A vocal advocate that is proactive, flexible and maintains outstanding human relationship skills

Desired Qualifications and Professional Experiences:
  • Five years' of living abroad
  • Five years' experience in a technical field
  • The ability to live in the same lodging facilities as the students
  • The ability to lead tours during English immersion programs within and outside the local community
  • Other cultural experience in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, other
