Job description

The Campus & Teaching Pastor at The Church at Nolensville serves as the primary shepherd, communicator, and team leader for a thriving regional campus of Brentwood Baptist Church. This leader is responsible for casting vision, planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive worship, service, and disciple-making strategy contextualized for the rapidly growing Nolensville community. As a fully integrated member of the Brentwood Baptist ministerial staff, this pastor will collaborate with a system-wide teaching team to faithfully proclaim the gospel with theological depth, while bringing stability, relational awareness, and deep discipleship to the local campus.

About The Church at Nolensville:

  • Size of the church: Averages 800–915 in weekly attendance across three Sunday services. The overarching Brentwood Baptist Church consists of nine campuses across Middle Tennessee.

  • Collaborative Preaching: You will preach 42–45 weeks a year. The multi-site preaching team researches the biblical text collaboratively each week, but pastors write and deliver their own individualized sermons.

  • Contextualization within Alignment: You must expertly navigate the tension of leading a campus contextualized for the Nolensville community (which has a "rural meets suburban" feel) while remaining strictly aligned with the overarching "DNA" and goals of Brentwood Baptist Church.

  • High-Growth Community: You will be ministering to a highly desirable, affluent, and fast-growing community of established professional families, providing massive opportunities for evangelism and local community impact.

Key Requirements for the Role:

  • Minimum of a Master's level seminary degree.
  • Minimum of 15 years of vocational ministry experience with supervisor experience and 5–7 years of regular preaching experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, communicate, and implement vision, objectives, goals, strategies, and tactics for the Nolensville campus, contextualizing them for the unique dynamics of the Nolensville community.
  • Preach weekly on Sundays (3 services) and teach when appropriate on Wednesdays and in other settings—approximately 42–45 weeks per year.
  • Provide oversight, equipping, and supervision of campus ministry staff and volunteers, clearly communicating and implementing strategic and operational goals, processes, and systems.
  • Determine and develop appropriate oversight of the pastoral care aspects of the Nolensville campus.
  • Develop an intentional and reproducible process for identifying and developing leaders within the congregation, fostering both spiritual maturity and ministry ownership.
  • Coordinate the weekly Nolensville campus worship gatherings in conjunction with the Senior Pastor, worship and preaching teams, and the campus worship minister.
  • Participate in the weekly Preaching Team meeting and collaborate in sermon planning, as well as participate in campus pastor development meetings led by the Senior Pastor.
  • Work with Executive Pastors to establish campus processes, systems, budgets, staffing models, and accountabilities to support the vision, goals, and strategies.
  • Contextualize church-wide goals to the Nolensville campus and report regularly with clarity and integrity.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to ensure that Nolensville’s vision, strategy, and initiatives are communicated to the campus demographic in a timely way.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly all-staff meetings at the Brentwood campus and other requested meetings across Brentwood Baptist’s campuses.
