DEPARTMENT: Deli
REPORTS TO: Deli Manager
OBJECTIVE: To assist in any way possible the total operation of the Deli Department. This responsibility will include implementation of all company policies, budgets and operating procedures within the Deli department.
BASIC SCOPE: You and your department are a creative and exciting extension of the total store. It may be you that will determine a customer's shopping preference. As one of the store's customer relation's representatives, it will be you that help build good will by carrying out duties in a cheerful, efficient and courteous manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Develop maximum customer relations through a friendly and courteous behavior.
2. Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
3. Maintain good working relationships with other department managers with objective of improved sales storewide.
4. At all times remember that our success will be dependent upon our ability to work together.
5. Capable of pricing, dating, wrapping or bagging of all deli products in accordance with the department manager and store policies.
6. Capable of recognizing the quality of/and distinguish between the many different products in the Deli department.
7. Capable of filling, arranging, rotating and merchandising displays and display cases within the Deli department.
8. Capable of frying chicken and preparation of all other items sold in hot case.
9. Assist in keeping salad bowls and deli meal cases full and merchandised at all times paying special attention to rotation.
10. Capable of preparing all items sold in Deli department, i.e., sandwiches, pizzas, salads, trays, etc.
11. Capable of merchandising cheese case. This will include cutting, wrapping and merchandising of case.
12. Responsible for keeping all Deli shelves full, straightened and merchandised properly at all times.
13. Be familiar with store layout, location of safety and emergency equipment.
14. Continually practice self-development so that additional duties and responsibilities can be assumed.
15. Price and code date all deli products clearly and accurately.
16. Receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
17. Maintain physical appearance of the department, including the display bread rack in front of case. Meet company maintenance and sanitation standards at all times per company and State guidelines. Be able to properly and completely break down, sanitize and rebuild Deli cases.
18. Be able to order products and supplies as required. Maintain attractive and appealing cases and displays for increased sales. Maintain product quality and cost control to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
19. Work closely with department manager to learn total operations of the Deli department and the company. Strive daily to progress and grow with the company.
20. Be knowledgeable of deli items, descriptions and ingredients so to better serve our customers and answer any questions that might arise.
21. Attend departmental, store and company meetings when requested.
22. Must be familiar with all company safety and accident prevention policies, report all accidents to the department manager, or in their absence, the Store Manager.
23. Comply with all company policies, programs and directives as specified in associate handbook.
Housekeeping/Maintenance:
1. Straighten, clean and sanitize areas of the Deli department as directed by Deli Manager.
2. Use and maintain Deli department equipment properly and safely at all times. Must inform department manager of any equipment problems.
3. Responsible for cleaning dishes, hot case and salad bar in compliance with State requirements.
