Job description
This is a management position responsible to ensure vessels are crewed, operated and maintained (as permitted by vessel crew) in accordance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations.
Key Duties:
- May involve travel to multiple locations with extended stays away from the homeport.
- Enforce Genesis Marine’s Safety Management System for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet.
- Ensure all vessel personnel comply with regulatory training requirements.
- Assist in the development and adherence of the operational budgets.
- Investigate vessel damage, product spills, and personal injuries.
- Ensure all proper documentation is completed accurately.
- Review orders that are dispatched for accuracy prior to transit and loading.
- Review load plans as needed.
- Supervise licensed and unlicensed personnel and crew management development.
- Responsible for Navigational Standards.
- Inspect vessels to ensure in good working condition.
- Arranges for coordination of assist tugs, pilots and crew care as necessary.
- Provide technical expertise for specialized jobs in the field.
- Port Captains will be assigned no more than 10 vessels.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
