Job description

Security Sergeant

Starting rate: $22.00 (Day & Swing)

Minimum age requirement: 21 years old

License/certification: State of Nevada Gaming Permit, Alcohol Awareness Card, Valid Driver's License, D.M.V. Driving History Printout (no more than 30 days old), and CPR/AED Certification (provided by the Company)

Job Summary

The Security Sergeant will perform all job summary tasks described in the "Security Officer" description in a professional and consistent manner. Additionally, in the absence of the Security Lieutenant, he/she will supervise all Security Dept. members on staff. The Sergeant will assist the Lieutenant in ensuring that all Gaming Regulations, Company, and Security Dept. Policies are adhered to.

Job Qualifications

Previous experience with Mesquite Gaming Security required. Must have completed Mesquite Gaming Management Training. Must possess basic math, computer, and grammar skills with good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to make sound decisions under stressful situations often in short time frames. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess integrity and the basic desire to serve and protect. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain an effective and efficient staff by preparing schedules and maintaining attendance forms.
  • Ensure that all Department Regulations, Company Policies and Procedures are followed.
  • Conduct training for staff members; monitor and maintain training records.
  • Review reports and other written materials prepared by staff members for proper content, accuracy, and thoroughness, making corrections and improvements as needed.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned and instructed by management.
Customer Service Expectations
  • Remember to always have a can-do attitude when dealing with customers and always get answers for the guest.
  • If in hostile situation with customer, seek ways to create win-win situations that will benefit both the customer and the company.
  • Be cheerful, helpful, respectful, and professional when interacting with customers and other staff members.
Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing and walking on uneven surfaces, lifting moderately heavy objects. The work may require above average strength, agility, and dexterity.

Work Environment

The work environment may occasionally involve exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress requiring a range of safety and other precautions, i.e., extreme outdoor weather conditions, under threat of a physical attack by another person, mob condition, or in similar situations in which conditions cannot be completely controlled. The work environment involves exposure to secondhand smoke in a casino.
